In todays class we looked at a range of resources such as immersive websites and how they function.
Immersive storytelling is a way to tell a story that really pulls in the audience. It uses pictures, sound, and interaction to really make the audience feel like they're part of the story. It's often used in things like virtual reality and augmented reality to make the story feel more real and engaging.
Static means web pages that are pre made and given to the user as is with no extra changes when accessed. These pages usually load quickly and are easier to host. Dynamic web pages however, are made on the spot based on user interaction or other data. They offer more features and customisation but need more resources and power to run. Dynamic pages are needed for interactive things like user accounts, online shopping, and tailored content.
Macro means looking at the big picture focusing on broad themes and long-term plans. Micro is the opposite, focusing on small details, specific actions, and short term goals. Both are important and often work together to give a full view and approach to complicated issues or projects.
People are now looking for more engaging experiences when they use digital platforms. This is because these experiences make using the platforms feel more natural and easy. This can make a website or app much better to use, and it can make people happier. They get a smooth and engaging interface that makes it easy and fun to navigate and interact with the platform.
The Boat an interactive graphic story from 2012, is based on a short story by Nam Le. It uses multimedia to tell the story of Vietnamese refugees after the Vietnam War. Sound, visual effects, and animation are used to draw users into the story. This offers a unique and engaging way to understand the refugee experience.
The sound and vision of The Boat
Reflecting on The Boat from SBS, I'm impressed by the unique storytelling approach. The use of sound and visuals to share the refugee's story from the authors piece creates a deep emotional link and a stronger sense of their tough journey. This mix of media grabs attention and teaches, making the past events easier to understand and relate to. It shows how media can go beyond regular storytelling to affect emotions and views.
