Reflecting on this Apollo 11 project I have learned so much knowledge. To begin with I had no idea about the story of the crews journey into space which was entitling to learn about, By reading books from the library to watching movies like the first man. This set the tone for the rest of my project.

I began to look for inspiration by creating style guides using images and colour as the main elements. Very early on in the project I knew I wanted to create a photographically influenced piece, by collecting images from many sources including books and nasa archives. I then experimented with these images using photoshop to change the texture and colour to give it a vintage aged style. By cooperating illustrations into the photography this also give my project a unique personal touch which was aimed at my own art direction. Creating the illustrations like a quick doodle was my main goal for the illustrations, It had to look sketched and raw. Overall I was very pleased with the outcome. I showed that with experimentation the use of photography can be just as effective as illustrating.

Once I began working on my prototype everything fell into place quite quickly as I had previously researched my style and created wireframes as a guide. I began creating drop shadows behind the photos to give it a 3D element like a physical scrapbook.

Some things I struggled with for this project was knowing when to stop as my style can be quite overwhelming, this project challenged me to keep things simple, focusing on a few photos each page and the content about Apollo 11. My eBook give me the most issues, not designing it but publishing it online. My document would completely glitch and change the colour of my illustrations. I overcame this issue by experimenting with the inner glow in opacity. I also had to change the background colour as it was too bright for indesign. Learning to change my design depending on the application I used gave me versatility.

Overall I am very happy with the ned result of my Apollo 11 project and I gained knowledge using new applications like indesign. I feel the classes were informative and give us a weekly task to follow. If I had to do anything to change my project I would spend more time finessing the design especially for my ebook. I had fun creating this project and most importantly learned about storytelling.
