Im now going to look back and reflect on my journey through out creating my own healthcare brief. At first the thought of creating my own brief was daunting. I didn’t feel confident enough in the beginning as this was the first time we would be left to our own devices. We were put into groups to begin with to get more research and understanding about the healthcare world and what area interested us. Sadly a few members of my group didn’t show up multiple times so I took the innovative and did my own brainstorming research.
I began looking how I could update the food menu in the hospital system for patients with preferences. The food menu continues to come on a piece of paper which I felt at the time needs updated. Although I thought this was a great idea at the time, I soon realised it would cost more for the NHS to create this system, therefore it wasn’t suitable as we are meant to be helping the NHS save money and resources.
I then thought of a new idea, Creating a scheduling system for staff struggling with organising their day and stress. I thought it would be great to add in a therapy screen for support as many NHS staff are overworked. I began to look at three different users. A doctor, nurse and cleaner. Three very different people but with one connection, they all work in the hospital. My idea was to make this a app for everyone employed in the hospital and there schedule would change depending on each user. I decided to focus on the doctor for my project.
One area I unexpectedly enjoyed was creating the user flow and blueprint to my prototype. It looked very intimidating but once I began to make my own it all made sense. As always I enjoyed the branding and overall designing of my app. I really enjoyed picking the colour theme and creating my brand.
If I could change anything about my final prototype and I had had time I would add more screens and make it more interactive. I would also make it available on smartwatch but that would mean a complete redesign. I would also add in examples of different users.
Overall I am very happy with the end result of my healthcare scheduling system app Kin. This project had not only enlightened me but give me knowledge on the process of creating a brief from scratch. Learning the skill of time management and new research methods are things that I will take with me into my future projects and work.
