I started my colour process by putting together a load of Pinterest palettes and UI inspiration, just to explore different vibes and see what could fit Memori. From that, I ended up experimenting with two main directions a more vintage look that felt warm and nostalgic and a more playful look that felt modern and upbeat.

I proceeded to put my Memori logo over loads of different backgrounds and made mockups to see what actually looked good in a real UI.
After that I checked the palettes for accessibility. I realised a few of my early colour choices didn’t have strong enough contrast, especially for text and buttons. That pushed me to narrow everything down and focus on colours that still felt warm and emotional which turned out to be blue, coral and lime/yellow.
Once I had a stronger direction I tested it across a feature map to make sure it worked consistently. The blue primary to keep the app modern and structured, with soft warm/yellow highlights as pop so the app still feels personal without becoming messy or overwhelming.
