For this project we have to create our own CV and cover letter to hopefully achieve placement. I began creating a mind map on what content I could include in my IXD CV. I have created many CVs for retail jobs and graphic design so I am aware that I will be creating a creatively designed CV.

Below is my current CV which was made for a normal retail job but I will be completely remaking a UX document. One thing I will be staying away from is putting my image in or using graphics. I want this CV to look professional and polished.

I created a mind map to outline the important areas I wanted to focus on in my CV. This helped me organise my thoughts and identify key elements I needed to highlight. The mind map became a helpful guide as I worked on crafting a CV that effectively showcases my skills and experiences.

I then began to sketch a quick site map sectioning out my CV into different areas, this gave me the opportunity to visually image what the layout would look like. I then went ahead and created another map showing what is least important. Daniel explained to us that we shouldn’t use graphics or percentages on our skills as this doesn’t really mean anything as you can’t show you are 80% good at something. Its easier to write your skills in bullet points as it looks neater and easier to read.

I then went on Pinterest and google and looked up examples of UX design CVs. I want it to be simple and easy to read like the examples below. I really like the use of type in the first design and the layout in the second. The third design grabbed my attention with the gradient background but I feel its too much and takes away from the overall appearance of the CV. Although I do like the gradient effect therefore I would like to contribute this someway into my own CV.

I began to write a brief paragraph about me so that the reader can understand the path I’ve taken in my life without going into too much detail. I wanted to express where my passion came from and how I’ve developed over the years to where I am today.
