In todays lecture we looked at the history of imaging and photography where the rules first began.
Vitruvian Man The Vitruvian Man is a famous drawing made by Leonardo da Vinci in 1490. It shows a man inside a circle and a square, with his arms and legs extended. The drawing is named after Vitruvius, an ancient Roman architect who described the ideal proportions of a human body.
The Vitruvian Man has been widely reproduced in art, literature, and popular culture. It has inspired many artists, architects, and designers. It remains a symbol of the beauty and perfection of the human form.
Fibonacci sequence
The Fibonacci sequence was first created in Italy by a mathematician called Leonardo Fibonacci.
Its basically a set of numbers that start with zero and one. It gradually gets higher equal to two numbers each time.
Golden Ratio
Golden ratio is a set of numbers that equal to 1.618. It comes from the Fibonacci sequence. You can find Golden ratio in everyday like rather is be a seashell or a flower. Golden ratio is used in many ways such as design, photography and even surprisingly cosmetic surgeries.
Rule of thirds
The rule of thirds is commonly used in the creative world it basically breaks up a photo or design into different sections. Its theoretically a table filled three with columns and three rows. The point in this is to let you focus on one section at a time. I remember using the rule of thirds in secondary school to draw as it made us focus on smaller details. Its also incredibly important in photography and I use it often as I want the subject of my photo to be focused and balanced.
Add Interest & Attractiveness
Visual Appeal: Photos look good and people understand them faster than words. A good photo can make people look at it for longer.
Emotion: Photos can create emotion and mood through the use of lighting, colour, and composition. An emotional photo can create a connection with the viewer and make them feel more engaged with the content.
Storytelling: Pictures can tell a story, whether it's one image that captures a moment or several images that show a progression. If the story is well-told, it can keep the viewer interested and engaged.
Authenticity: Using photos can make content feel more genuine, whether it's about a product, service, or person. Real-life people and situations can make the content seem more relatable and trustworthy.
Creativity: Pictures can be imaginative and creative, and creativity is appealing by itself. A unique or clever picture can capture the viewer's interest and make them want to interact more with the content.
What I’ve Learned
