For the first week we delved into the fundamentals of job application, covering essential documents such as the CV, Portfolio, and Cover Letter. Typically, these documents span one to two A4 pages, unless you're pursuing a more extensive role that warrants additional information. Keeping in mind our CV will be creatively designed therefore it won’t be as in depth as for example a computer science student.

What is a CV?

A CV which is short for curriculum vitae, is a document that sums up a person's education, work experience, skills, and achievements. It acts as a snapshot of your professional background, giving employers a quick look at what you bring to the table. Having a CV is crucial because it lets employers easily see if you have the right qualifications for a job. It's like a highlight reel of your experiences and skills, making it easier for employers to decide if you're a good fit for a particular position.

What is a cover letter?

A cover letter is a short letter you send with a job application to introduce yourself to the employer. In it you talk about your skills and experiences that match the job. It's like a personal introduction where you show you're excited about the job and explain how your background fits what the company is looking for. A good cover letter adds more details to your resume and shows the employer that you can communicate well and really want the job.

Make sure the cover letter is consistent and tells a story about your progression. I want the employer to see a clear description of who I am as a person. I need to make sure I write about my achievements without making it too long.
