Developing the Memori Logo and Wordmark

Creating the logo and wordmark for Memori was a really important part of the branding process because I wanted the identity to feel simple and memorable. Since the app is based around memory, keepsakes, and storytelling, the branding needed to feel soft and approachable, but still modern enough to work well as a digital product.

Starting with the wordmark

I started editing parts of the letterforms so the wordmark would feel more unique to Memori. I explored different versions of letters, especially the “e” and the “i”, to see what looked the most balanced and natural. I used the pen tool and also sketched variations in Procreate to help me experiment more freely. This part of the process was important because it helped me move from simply choosing a font to actually shaping a custom wordmark that felt like its own identity.

Refining the final wordmark

As I tested different variations, I focused on making sure the wordmark felt soft, bold, and easy to recognise. I wanted it to reflect the emotional and approachable side of the project, without becoming too decorative or difficult to read. The final result keeps the rounded, friendly structure of the original type direction, but with refined letterforms that feel much more intentional and suited to the Memori brand.

Developing the logo icon

I also developed a standalone logo mark. I wanted this icon to connect directly back to the name Memori, so I used the idea of the letter ”M” as the basis for the design. Rather than using a flat letter, I experimented with building it into a more structured symbol that could represent the memory box itself.

I first created a hexagon / cube-like base shape to make sure the proportions were accurate. Using this structure helped me align both of the “M” forms properly and keep the overall icon balanced. It also allowed the logo to feel more geometric and contained, which links nicely to the idea of a physical memory box. Once the structure was in place, I refined the shape so it felt softer and more rounded, helping it connect better with the rest of the brand.

The final icon combines the idea of the letter “M” with the shape of a box, creating a mark that feels both symbolic and functional. It represents the idea of storing memories in a physical and digital space, which is at the core of the project.

Bringing the two together

Once both elements were developed, I looked at how the wordmark and logo icon worked together as one system. This was important because the brand needs to work across different contexts. The icon is strong enough to stand on its own, while the wordmark gives the brand a softer and more expressive identity when used in full.
