I wanted to find a video that I could watch that would give me more inspiration and knowledge, I found this TedTalk by Tony Fadell called The First Secret of Great Design.

https://youtu.be/9uOMectkCCs?si=sXYRijG17m6ktzEg

He talks about Mary Anderson who invented the windshield wiper. This simple idea changed everything and it shows how important it is to pay attention something that all clever thinkers do. He says we need to see the world not as it is but as it could be. He links this to how product designers make things better for users by focusing on small details that make a big difference.

Tony Fadell's talks about habituation and how we get used to everyday things and stop noticing them, this is a big problem in design.

How do we keep coming up with new ideas when people stop seeing the issues around them?

His answer:

To keep fighting against getting too used to things by always trying to see things in a new way reminds me to always stay alert and interested.

Reflection

Tony Fadell's talk has really inspired me how I think about design. He highlighted how important it is to care and to address the less obvious issues that can really improve what the user experiences. It reminded me of how much of a difference good design can make in everyday life. It has inspired me to keep challenging what I think I know and to always aim to be innovative and learn from everything.
