In todays class we had to critique each others typographic screen designs.

We started off going through each persons three designs and asking what their favourite design was, From here we spoke our opinions on what we think they could change to improve their typographic screen. Giving a honest opinion is important in design and its how we can better ourselves as designer.

At first my favourite out of the three was the 2nd design, I really loved the simple colours I used with the accent red. I tried to keep the the bauhaus colour scheme as much as possible.

Here are the notes that where left on my designs;

I took this into consideration and decided to experiment with different colour palettes. I started with light brown tones which give a retro vibe but I felt it looked quite dull and unflattering.

Next I studied the bauhaus colour palettes and they seem to be dulled down primary colours mixed occasionally with orange or beige.

I then redesigned it on Figma and absolutely loved the outcome I also decided to add in a few rectangles to areas I felt needed some attention, Using a ‘O’ I upscaled the Futura type to 2000 in size to great a curved shape to the design. This was my least liked typographic screen it became my favourite.

Thoughts

Overall I really enjoyed todays class and seeing my class mates work helped me gain inspiration. Having advice from another set of eyes was also refreshing as sometimes if we critique are own work we can’t see the finer details that could be easily tweaked.
